Sriracha Chicken Strips Con Leche

Have you ever tried drinking a glass of milk with some spicy food?  I know what you are thinking, but let me tell you it takes your taste buds to a whole new level. Dare to try these Sriracha Chicken Strips with milk? Delicious!

My husband loves anything spicy but he has a special relationship with Sriracha sauce. No matter what I make, even if it is already spicy, he will add Sriracha sauce to it.  I have to say that I’m a complete lightweight when it comes to eating spicy foods, but it’s so good. I pair my spicy food with milk because milk contains casein;  a compound that binds with spicy oils in chiles and washes them away. Drinking milk with these sriracha chicken strips lets me eat and enjoy the delicious flavor without feeling like my mouth is on fire.  Milk is perfect for many different flavor profiles – whether it’s Sriracha flavor or a pepper like a jalapeno.


2 Chicken breasts sliced

1 1/2 cups of breadcrumbs

1 cup of buttermilk

1 egg

1 T. garlic sriracha powder

2 T. sriracha chile

In 2 separate flat containers place ingredients as shown in picture above.  Cut up chicken in slices.

Mix each container of ingredients like picture above.

Place the chicken strips in the buttermilk mixture first then immediately move them to the breadcrumbs and coat evenly on each side.

Place them in oil on medium heat until the sriracha chicken strips are cooked throughly.

We love milk in this household and you can drink milk with anything from chilaquiles, tacos, sopes and even caldos. With these savory foods, the emulsifiers in the milk attract themselves to the fat, dissolving them and allowing these delicious foods with a “kick” to go down easier. YES!!
