Growing up in a Mexican family I have learned to appreciate all the times we spent together. Now that I’m a mother of 2 teenaged boys I know the importance and value of quality time. I remember my mother making her famous nachos – I knew it when she started cooking chorizo, that smell would drag me out of my room, because that meant movie night! We would gather in the family room, eating family style and enjoy time together. Those are some of the great memories I shared with my familia growing up.
Nowadays we are consumed with so many activities that there is one day we look forward to – Sunday. Why? Well it’s football Sunday and we get to have a few hours of quality family time watching and rooting for our favorite teams – and playoff football is so exciting! And of course, we always have an array of food. What’s a football game without food? My boys always request their usual favorites and I always make something new. I made them Jalapeno stuffed cheese bread and some Jalapeno Marinara Dipping Sauce. I used La Morena Jalapenos. I love and use La Morena products in my home because they have been providing US consumers with quality products made with the taste of Mexican homemade recipes for over 25 years.
1/4 C. diced La Morena Jalapenos
2 green onions chopped
5 pieces of cooked bacon chopped
2 oz. of cream cheese
1 C shredded Mozerella cheese
1 can of biscuits
Jalapeño Marina Sauce
1 tablespoon chopped La Morena Jalapenos
1/4 cup chopped onions
2 garlic cloves
1 15 oz can of diced Italian tomatoes
Take all the ingredients for the Jalapeño Stuffed Cheese Bread and mix together so all the ingredients look like the picture above.
Using the biscuit dough smash one down as flat as you can make it then add a small amount of the filling onto the dough. Pinch up each side until it forms a small round ball. Place onto a cookie sheet with the pinched side down. See picture below.
Once you have filled all the dough place them into the oven at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes or so until they are golden brown.
Next, start the Jalapeño Marinara Dipping Sauce. Drizzle some olive oil into a pan and place the chopped onions, garlic and La Morena Jalapeños and cook for about 5 mins. Then add the can of Italian tomatoes into the pot. With a hand mixer I smashed the tomatoes so it would be chunky……then simmer for about 10 more minutes. Then it’s done!
Once the Jalapeño Stuffed Cheese Bread and the Jalapeño Marinara Dipping Sauce is done, serve together. I love shopping at my local Ralph’s Grocery store. I’m always able to find La Morena Brand at Ralph’s. You can find La Morena Products in the canned food section of the store.
Aren’t these just mouth watering???
What are some of your favorite foods to have on football Sundays?
