I have the best news to share with all of you and I’m so excited to tell you about it. Coca-Cola is partnering with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to help Hispanic families achieve their college dreams and goals as part of the #ForTheDeam National Scholarship program.

I clearly remember the first day of I started Kindergarten, I was this scared  little Mexican-American 5-year old girl that only spoke spanish. Everything was so foreign. I remember my parents telling me that I was going to be ok and that school was going to be an important part of my life.  I really had no clue what they meant back then but now the message has come full circle.  After marrying and having a family of my own, my goal was to pursue my 4 year degree and finish my education. My husband had finished college several years earlier and it was now my turn. By pursuing my education and graduating from a university, I feel that the tone has been set for my children and future generations.

One of my proudest moments was graduating from college while already being married with 2 sons. It was important for all of us – husband, parents and my children. I was the first person in my family to graduate from a 4 year college, my parents came to this country to give me a better opportunity and I wasn’t going to let them down.

As a Latina mom wth 2 sons, a high schooler and a middle schooler, I feel it is important for Latinos to further their education and understand the opportunities that are available to help them get there; such as the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. I want other Latino families to know about the program and encourage them to achieve their goals and reach their fullest potential.

As part of the #ForTheDream National Scholarship program, Coca-Cola is again partnering with the Hispanic Scholarship fund to help hispanic families achieve their dreams very much like I did. Qualifying students have the wonderful opportunity to be awarded a part of $150,000 donated by Coca-Cola in order to pursue their college dreams.

Applications are being accepted until March 30, 2016, and what better way to begin the process of preparing, planning, and paying for college than by being awarded a scholarship! Apply by visiting coke.com/ForTheDream.
